We will make a kilt-inspired costume, prepare a Scottish dessert, hold mini Highland Games, sing traditional Scottish songs, do a ceilidh dance and learn about Scottish customs, plants and animals.
This event is tailored to children between the ages 3 and 12, but parents who accompany their children will also learn a thing or two.
We will meet in the Meadows, the big park south of Edinburgh's old town. From there, we will stroll together to the building where our activities will take place. There, we will start singing traditional songs and crafting: we will work with tartan and create a kilt-inspired Scottish costume that the children can wear during the day and take home afterwards. The children will learn a few things about Scottish traditions and we will make a delicious Scottish dessert together. After that, the children will compete against each other in funny sports such as the ones played at the traditional Highland Games. For those who like music and dance, we will also learn to do a ceilidh dance, something which Scottish children learn at school. Throughout the event, the children will hear about the local animals and plants as well as about the life of children in Scotland.
3 hours' fun activities, craft material and a kilt-inspired costume to take home, a Scottish dessert, parents attend for free.
£75 per child. Make a booking here.
